Family Argument
Please help solve this problem:
1930s or 1930's?
1930s would simply be the plural of 1930, but is 1930's correct because the ' stands for the "ie" missing from 1930ies despite the rest of the number not being written in letters?
Another chaotic christmas in our house, but less stressful than last year and pretty enjoyable :)

I don't really know but there are about 16 million more entries in google for 1930s than 1930's. This probably just means the rest have forgotten about the ' and I am inclined to agree with you on this occasion.

It's 1930s... clearly.
It really annoys me when people write the 80's... it's the '80s... as in the ' means the 19 has been dropped...
